Kathmandu: The seventh plenary meeting of the CPN (UML)'s Central Committee concluded on Thursday, endorsing a comprehensive 22-point contemporary proposal.

The meeting, which took place from February 20, emphasized the party's role in both parliament and the streets to safeguard the federal democratic republic, ensure the effective implementation of the constitution, and foster development and prosperity. The committee noted the perceived failure of the incumbent government in addressing the crucial issues affecting people's livelihoods.

Under the leadership of Chair KP Sharma Oli, the meeting incorporated suggestions gathered from various group-wise discussions. Key areas of focus included reinforcing party discipline, ensuring financial transparency, and promoting moral conduct among members.

During the meeting, Chair Oli urged the materialization of the national aspiration, "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali," by establishing a majority government led by the UML.

General-Secretary Shankar Pokhrel provided policy-level instructions, covering the renewal of party membership, the operation of a systematic party school, efficient office management, the effectiveness of purification processes, the expansion of party activities among the new generation, the management of the diamond jubilee, and preparations for upcoming by-elections.

The meeting also condemned the Balkumari and Barhathawa incidents, where three individuals lost their lives due to police force. Chief of UML Central Publicity and Publication Department, Rajendra Gautam, stated that the meeting called upon the government to take appropriate action against those responsible, provide relief and compensation to the families of the deceased.
